This hair was one of my biggest challenges in Maya for me. I wanted the hair to look realistic and for that to happen the hair had to be one instead of separated squares combined. I tackled this by experimenting with shaping the squares how I saw fit and joining them together as shown below. I used the same tactic that I used for Alex for Divi's hair to give it the same "character" style.
