Carrie

Fig.1 - Carrie Poster

Exposition:

The film starts off by revealing the characters and their characteristics. For example. The scene started with the mother giving birth and trying to kill the baby, then crosscuts representing the main character. The camera pans representing the typical students in school; bullies, teacher, mother and more.

Fig.2 - Period Scene

Instinct incident:

Starts exactly in Act 1 scene 2 because she struggled with her menstruation and asked for help as she thought she was dying. No one helped which awakened her power. The next scene she discovers she has powers as she blows a boy off his bicycle and her mother shut her in a closet.

Fig. 3 - Transformation

Rising Action:

Carrie (the main character) gets loved by one of the “popular” girls who transforms her and gets her a date for prom. Carrie tells the mother that she has “been asked to prom.” The mother through experience tells her to go to the closet and pray that she has sinned. She refuses to let her go which invoked Carrie to using her powers which scared her mother.

Fig. 4 - Obstacle

Obstacle:

Her mother attempts to stop her from going saying that they would hurt her. She calls out names such as “devil’s hand” and provokes Carrie to use telekinesis to shut her up and put her in the closet.

Fig. 5 - Revenge

Climax:

She finally started to fit in and enjoyed her date. She and her date were asked to go on stage as they were picked for Prom Queen and King. Whilst Standing on the stage a bucket of pig’s blood was poured on her, and a video of her struggling on her period was shown and everyone in the hall laughed. A bucket fell on the date and knocked him unconscious. She goes wild and kills everyone in the room with her power.

Plot 1 and 2:

Instead of keeping her powers a secret she decided to use it in public as she was angry.

Fig. 7 - Betrayed

Falling Action:

She goes back to her mother who hugs her and took her home. She tells Carrie to pray with her. Suddenly takes a knife from behind and stabs her daughter. Carrie struggled and pushed her away. She gets up and uses her power throwing all sharp objects and killed her mother. Carrie carries her as her power goes out of control and takes the house down with her and dies.

Fig. 8 - End

Resolution:

Carries Friend visit her grave. Meanwhile, she was a pregnant teenager.

Fig. 9 - Enigma Code

Partial Close:

Carries friend struggles whilst giving birth. Whilst she was struggling everything started shaking and a big hand full of blood reached out to her. Then ended with her waking up and holding her stomach crying over her unborn child. Thus, leaving an enigma code wondering if her child inherited Carrie's powers.

In conclusion, I think this fits with 5 act because it has the structure. For example, it started with an inciting incident, leading to a rising action, climax, Falling action than a resolution with a partial close, this could be because is not a long film.
